How to Clean Bongs, Braziers or Pipes

The cleaning of smoking tools greatly influences the final experience. There are many reasons why it is good to clean the bongs and the braziers: it optimizes the air flow; the flavors of the tops maintain their freshness and the aesthetics of the instruments improve significantly.

In this article, we will try to show you an easy three-step procedure to clean up bongs, braziers or glass pipes.

You will need the following materials:

  • A dirty bong, brazier or pipe
  • Tap water
  • Liquid detergent (a normal product for washing dishes)
  • A plastic bag with zip closure
  • Epsom salts (available at any local or online pharmacy)
  • Denatured alcohol (available in pharmacies or online)
  • Cotton swab

Instructions

1. Pre-soak Your Dirty Accessory in Hot Water and Liquid Detergent

Dishwashing detergents are formulated to remove all unwanted residues from dishes, cutlery, and glasses. Obviously, these are safe products with which to clean materials that come into contact with our mouth. Pre-immersing a bong, a brazier or a pipe in this solution of hot water and detergent facilitates cleaning maneuvers. Be aware that the “pre-soaking” method is also an excellent way to degrease dishes that tend to accumulate in the kitchens of the laziest smokers. After a couple of weeks, immerse the whole thing in the sink and let it soak for 24 hours. Wipe and rinse.

2. Rub with Alcohol in a Zip-lock Bag: Shake, do not Mix

Place the brazier or glass pipe in a zip-lock bag and pour the alcohol over it. It is not necessary to add large quantities of alcohol, necessary to completely immerse the piece to be cleaned up. Close the bag, or plug the holes in your bong, and shake quickly.

If the smoking instrument were to be particularly dirty, the impurities should change color when in contact with alcohol, tending to a more brownish hue. Repeat this step, using fresh and clean alcohol again.

3. What do you Think of Adding Some Epsom Salts? Certainly.

At this point, you should still have your brazier immersed in alcohol in the zip-lock bag. Well, it’s time to add Epsom salts.

Leave the alcohol in the bag or bong and add a fair amount of Epsom salts. It’s time to shake the solution again. The more the bag or the bong is shaken, the better results will be obtained.

After shaking several times, you can rinse your piece under warm water to remove any remaining resin residue. To optimize the airflow of the instruments and eliminate any trace of dirt, you can also use the cotton swabs. Finally, if you want to make your accessory even brighter, you can use a microfibre cloth and dry-rub all surfaces.

And here it is done. You’re ready to do a lot of more fun things again! If you are yet to get a bong, I recommend you buy bongs online to enjoy the fun of smoking.
